In the mid 80's while appearing locally in Hendersonville Dan was asked to appear as a surprise guest on Nashville Now the night the show was honoring the Osmonds. It was there that they shared a magical moment with the audience and debuted "Meet Me In Montana". The song vaulted them into the forefront of country music and soon after won them the Duo Of The Year award. |

| One problem Dan did not count on from all this success was the numerous requests he received from the audience to do "Meet Me In Montana". Dan and Marie did not normally tour together so while Marie's guitarist Jim Brown was happy to sing Dan's part, Dan wasn't as lucky as no one in his band volunteered to do Marie's part. This was one of the reasons that Dan and Marie did not follow up with another duet. They did, however, continue to do various television programs such as Marie's visit to New Country where they are just finishing "Meet Me In Montana" in this photo. |  |
