THE BAND-THEN
The mid '80's to early '90's
saw many changes to Dan's band. Here's drummer Scott Kaufman
doing his thing at a concert in central
Pennsylvania in the mid '80's.
He's kinda hidden behind all those drums!
John Porter McMeans adds a little color to the scene at the same central Pennsylvania concert. Besides playing a variety of instruments Porter also helps rev up the crowds which also adds enjoyment to the shows. Porter was originally with T. G. Sheperd's band.
Charles "The Duke" Earl is one of the original members
of The Jones and Stanley Band which
Kyle Lehning introduced to Dan back in the early '80's when it became
apparent that Dan would need a band backing him up. He's another talented
musican who's traveled many a road with Dan over the past 14+ years. I
don't think he'd trade his experiences in for anything. He followed
his dream and is still living it.
Here's Jim Brown with John Porter McMeans at the 1993 Superstar
Spectaclur
Show
at the Grand Ole Opry. Both wizards at the guitar they often liked
to give the audience a special treat. Jim originally came from Marie
Osmond's band which he often sang Dan's part in the popular hit "Meet Me
In Montana". Unfortunately Dan apparently couldn't convince him to
sing Marie's part while he was with Dan's group. From what I have heard,
Jim has since gone on to do session work as well as ocassionally touring
with artist Linda Davis. I think some of you guys would be happy with that
arrangement.
Here's Porter and Duke at the
first Countryfest in Pomona California. On stage for approximately
30 minutes they managed to pack more good music into their portion of the
show than most acts that were on stage for 45 minutes to an hour. Non-stop
good music from the start.
Words cannot describe Joe Stanley and the loss that was felt with his sudden passing. This talented man was an original member of The Jones and Stanley Band. Talented is an under statement. He sure could play. He's missed.
