MINNESOTA STATE FAIR
ST PAUL, MINNESOTA
SEPTEMBER 3-6, 1999
|
Although the weatherman called for heavy rains and grey skies,
we woke up Friday morning to bright blue skies combined with a high humidity
count. It was a great start to the Labor Day weekend, as well as the
series of concerts that we had looked forward to for so long.
Arriving early we were able to secure good seats. Settling back we did some serious people watching. Even at that early hour most were carrying cheese curds, funnel cakes, or even yard sticks that became a symbol of the fair. We all seemed to have our favorites. On Monday you could hear the cars in their qualifying heats in the background. |
| As the activities on the free stage increased closer to the start of the concerts, so did the number of people coming into the area. Soon it was jammed and people were anxious for the first act to come on stage. The free stage works a rotation schedule. Those on first the first day will then become the middle act the following day and close the shows on the third day. With two shows daily, there's ample room for everyone and great seats available. I can truthfully say that it's one of the nicest areas to view concerts that I have come across in a long, long time. Sound checks were done and equipment checked over for a final time. | ![]() |

For us the long year's wait was almost over when at long last the Clark Family Experience took center stage. Ranging in age from 14 to 26 these Virginia bred boys are exceptional instrumentalists. Their singing ranged from good to almost impossible to understand but overall their show was entertaining. They certainly made a good impression on the younger female members of the audience. |
