Cactus Pete's,   Jackpot, Nevada

April 10th to April  15th 2001

It was an unforgetable sight when we topped the rise and saw Jackpot, Nevada - or more appropriately Cactus Pete's Casino - right smack dab in the middle of nowhere.  It was to be our "home" for the next six days.  After a quick check in, we checked out the casino and found the area where Dan's shows would take place.

We arrived early for the dinner show and were again surprised by the friendly service and great food.  We can't say enough about the people at the casino and how hard they worked to make your stay an enjoyable one.  Suddenly it was show time.

Although the first night was fairly quiet and only half full, the ensuing shows were packed and enthustic.  The same held true for  the  second cocktail show which started at 11pm.  Dan brought back memories when he started the show with "I'd Really Love To See You Tonight" and "Love Is The Answer".  The place then rocked to the sounds of "Good Times" and the mega favorite "Bop".  Dan's expertise with the sax catches many by surprise.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the haunting "Still Reelin".  It was the first time I had heard it in concert setting.  The light hearted banter that followed had everyone laughing.  Soon the six days of concerts were over and we had to head back - Vickie to Fargo and me to Long Island.

Check out the trip diary to see how we coped driving several thousand miles and hitting every State Park we could find between Minneapolis and Jackpot.  Hmmm.. we're ready to go again.
